I think it'd be less about MY life, but life in general. Pokemon is so huge that I'd be willing to bet that if Pokemon never existed, anime as a whole would've been damaged quite a bit, or rather weebs would've been less of a thing, as Pokemon was a big foot in the door for anime in the west, and ended up making such a huge amount of money that it caused tidal waves in all kinds of fields, ranging from everyone trying to make Pokemon clones, to everyone making Pokemon TCG clones, to marketable plushies in general. Heck, 4kids would've probably done far worse overall without Pokemon since that was kinda their cash cow.
Gameboy sales would've been way worse in the west too.
