Some people will call it blind nostalgia or whatever the fuck, but there's just this simple appeal to team rocket that I don't really think has been replicated, just this simple timeless appeal, you immediately look at these fuckers and you get they're gangsters, you look at Giovanni and you immediately get he's supposed to be a mafia don, with these new gen teams especially it's a massive shitshow, team skull just being a bunch of retarded delinquents was vaguely funny the first time around, but then they did the same thing next gen but worse and then again in gen 9, arguably better than gen 8 but still shit, I don't get a feeling of timeless imagery or anything interesting looking at team star, they're just another pair of tasteless pretentious OCs from deviantart, if you showed these fuckers to someone without giving them context, do you think anyone would guess what their deal is?

Feels weak to be honest. Team Star's trouble-causing should have been shown to be more disastrous than skipping school and building club houses.
Maybe put some bitter washout who peaked in highschool behind them as the true mastermind. Makes the victim angle work a bit better for the bosses and Penny's somewhat convoluted plan more justifiable than her being spectrum-enhanced.

The story could have worked I think if gamefreak made the school's board in SV harsh and assholish (just like real schools funnily enough) that neglected the bully problem until it got way outta hand, a bunch of the bullied kids and randos start organizing and some of them deciding to get shit done against the bullies and the school's direction, which culminates in a massive shitfest, the tards who joined in this new group called star to deal with the bully and school problem start fearing repercussion for having fucked up a lot of stuff on school ground and having beat the shit outta their bullies and the school directory that's trying to save face pretends they're just a bunch of delinquents who wreaked havoc unprovoked. Team star starts to garner traction from a bunch of dropouts and delinquents joining, what started as a group focused around standing up for themselves is slowly becoming nothing better than a gang of troublemakers who create chaos around local towns, disrupt gym challenges and do all kinds of stupid shit, some of the kids within the group after seeing this would just want to come clean and make things right as they see it, while others are enjoying just causing even more trouble for the sake of it, the story would culminate more or less within the player having to take down the rotten apples who took over as the head honchos of team star and eventually deal with the retards at the school who allowed this shitstorm to feaster and get to the point that it did, with a new director and a lot of new staff being employed at the academy after everything is said and done, this happened in the game as well but it's just told to the player and it feels super lame, it'd be way better if it actually happened in game and showed progression to the story. Issue is that Gamefreak is too gay to ever make a complex and more edgy story like this.
