In RDR2 every part of the map either has something to find or it has some hidden background lore.
Like some abandoned town I found and never paid attention to, but after checking it out closely turns out the reason it's abandoned because the whole town was populated by satanists who got killed by other locals the moment they found out they were satanists.
In other places I found gold bars that pretty much funded all the upgrades at my camp, and in others there are sidequests to do.
And on top of that there's tons of ways of interacting with people beyond just killing them, like antagonizing them.
In Palworld and Pokemon there's nothing like that, the open world is just dead, not to mention they are ugly as fuck.
