I agree with Scovillain but disagree with Banette because the difference between Shuppet and Banette is what makes Banette look like a final evolution.

Like Patrat to Watchog or Snorunt to Glalie, it's clearly reached it's final stage, whereas Capsakid to Scovillain are a bit too similar

I don't think Banette was even designed to be anything's evolution. It and Shuppet are unrelated pokemon glued together on one evo line like how digimon work.

this is one of my main complaints about gen 3 onwards lol. A lot of fully evolved mons look so weak and tiny now especially next to the rest of the team, while back then any fully evolved Mon occupied the full 56X56 making them look equally as powerful regardless of their in-universe size.
My gen 1 team just looks wrong in 3D with all the widely different sizes.

the cross gen evos from the 3D era. they were a mistake. they're typically very lazy in comparison to what we got in gen 2 and 4 and and gamefreak's obsession with facial hair is getting stronger and stronger as the gens go by

Froslass, Mismagius, Magnezone, Honchkrow, Mamoswine, Dusnknoir, Porygon-Z
all much better designs than anything that came out in gen 6+ like Kleavor, Annihilape, Wyrdeer, Clodsire, Obstagoon, Dudunsparce, or Ursaluna

this might sound really cringe but i like to interpret Seadra's sharp and rigid design as an "edgy teen phase" which feels fitting for a middle evo, then Kingdra goes back to having a smoother design as a sign that it has "matured" and it's no longer in its edgy teen phase
