I do, however, quite enjoy the graphics and animation of the early 3d pokemon games because the models are chunky and charming
the modern models are definitely better, but I don't prefer them.

Not all them are as receptive to purification that way, but yes that's what I plan on doing. Gotta snag Shuckle and Togetic now. 5 rounds of four battles in the Deep Colosseum to get it sure is a pain in the ass.

There are 386 pokemon in the game, not counting the individually animated altforms for pokemon like unown and castform

I haven't touched this Colosseum save in like ten years so I actually did forget about it and used up my Master Ball, but I can just trade another over from Emerald anyway. I got dozens of them. But I did snag Shuckle and Togetic, so now I'm moonwalking in Agate Village to purify the fuckers.

You don’t play the game. Meaning you don’t have to watch the same le epic quirky xDD animation play out every single time you hit the pokemon x4 for every turn and instead just clap at gifs in isolation. So of course you think the shit animations are good.

Idle purifying is really relaxing. I'm a little concerned I won't be able to beat the Battle Mode Mt. Battle challenge though. My "story" team kinda sucks and I don't know what qualifies as "story", so I'm hesitant to trade them out to level, EV train, and TM them before sending them back in.

You don't need to EV train or anything, I managed it at like 12 with no clue EVs existed or that physical/special was type dependent and zero support moves since I was used to main series where brute forcing with STAB and a few coverage moves worked on everything.

I think you'll be fine dude. Besides you get a continue every time you finish a battle without losing a pokemon.
Hell I was able to beat ~95% of pokemon by just throwing out a gardevoir with Psychic+Elemental punches.

Yeah that's what I figured. I'm at the point where I can do the Orre Colosseum in GoD, but my team is all over the place because I started that file like fifteen years ago when I only knew how to use supereffective moves, and kinda want to do the first round for the guaranteed Lucky Egg.

My guess is the battery I soldered in was old, it was part of a lot I bought ten years ago. If the message still persists I'll replace it with one from a new lot I bought last month.

I never had any good luck with Shadow Pokemon, they'd enter Hyper Mode constantly and do nothing but skip their turns. I purified anyone I wanted to use on my team as soon as possible.

If I'm not wrong in Colosseum, when they enter in HM you can't use any other move besides Shadow Rush but you will have an almost 100% critical hit, so that + Meditite's Pure Power ability you sweep everything, I remember OHKO Miror B's Ludicolos and Dakim's team with that, a shame you cant level up SP otherwise a Shadow Medicham in HM would be a literal speedrun

No shit, these games were made fairly quick and cheap (Genius Sonority was founded June 2002, Colosseum released in Japan in November 2003), it's no secret they reused the stadium models for gen 1 and 2 pokemon. XD was a bit more polished all around, but they did not have time to redo all the older pokemon models. They're not the most high fidelity graphics but they put enough personality and spectacle in the animations, and the environments have unique atmospheres that stand out against other locations in the pokemon world.
