For me it was Silver because the sprites looked better also Lugia was a cooler legendary.

I owned all three as a kid. Same with gen 1. Stopped caring in gen 3 then got pearl and platinum for gen 4, and I haven't bothered buying a single game since because not only is emulation easier than it was back in the day but also because nothing after HGSS is worth shit.

Those were what I had. Didn't have a N64 but a friend did so got to at least play Stadium with him.
