NTA but I agree that HD2D shouldn't be for remakes. It should be for brand new concepts. Remakes are mostly about graphical advancement - making the old region on par with the current Gen. That's precisely the reason why BDSP is a bad remake, NOT it being faithful to the original.

I get the feeling they're going to try something like this. It's no longer possible to put out a 3D game quickly if they don't want a repeat of SV's numerous technical issues. If they want to keep making games by themselves, with no companies helping them, then settling on a new graphic style for 2.5D games and putting out remakes is one of the viable options to buy them time.

They're never gonna make a new set of 2D sprites for pokemons when they can just copy paste the 3D models they already use. I wish we'd get something like HD2D (without the post processing though) since it would be a nice throwback to DS games themselves using sprites in 3D environments but that would be way too much effort for GF when they can just repurpose SwSh or SV's engine and throw in Unova like a glorified romhack.
