Nice looking clean art style and graphics that fits the tone of the series instead of the bizarre realistic shit they tried to do in SV or the fucking awful distorted inconsistent graphics they tried to do in BW
Made the Pokemon League and Gyms a meaningful well thought out part of the story with good worldbuilding surrounding it instead of lazy afterthought copy/paste from Kanto like all the other regions
Good multiplayer UI similar to the PSS but more convenient to use for connecting with randoms
Best trainer customization in the series thus far
Introduced useful QoL items such as mints and ability patch
Included overworld encounters
Has some fun and well thought out battle facilities such as Dynamax Adventure and Restricted Sparring

the game did a lot right actually, the only bad things about it are the writing and the Wild Area graphics.

I know I'll get shit for it but I enjoyed SV. Obviously there are a ridiculous amount of issues in it, but I overall enjoyed it more than something like X and Y.

Adding the very concept of raid battles to the main series. It gave a different game experience in how we sort of had to coordinate as a community to tackle in Gen 9.

Keep in mind I mean the very idea of adding raids to the main series, implementation has been terrible in basically every single aspect both times, but the concept was neat.

Only gym leader designs, player customization for the most part and a very small amount of pokemon designs. Everything else is shit on fire and/or missed the mark by being half baked ie camping but no petting or interactivity

I actually like SwSh quite a lot. Especially the DLC. And specifically Isle of Armor. It's such a cool location.

My only problem with SwSh is the region's "lore". The fact that in Galar there's supposed to be 18 Gyms (one for each Pokemon type) but we only get to visit 8 Gyms really annoys me. It implies that Galar is way bigger than what we get to explore in-game. Where are those missing Gyms located? Why are they inaccessible? The game doesn't answer such questions.

The effect of Mints only changing the altered battle stats instead of the Pokémon's personality (Nature) outright. Aesthetically they're terrible with the lack of consistency between the colors and previously established flavors.

This isn't a SwSh did it right comment, but it's an SV didn't do it at all complaint.

I like the combination of routes and wild area. Even if both are shit and lazy implementations, the fully open world of S/V is such a bad idea for a Pokemon game. Routes should lead from one town to another. Caves should have atleast a way in and a way out. Trainers shouldn't be optional, and if you meet their gaze you must battle.

It's crazy that they did not try to actually do this better and instead got rid of it all completely.

It's weird to me how mad raid battles make people in SV, people act like they are "buggy" but other than occasional text weirdness they operate on pretty consistent rules.
Swsh's raid battles were awful, hard limit on how much damage you can do was a terrible terrible mechanic and there was no strategy.
