but I won't even entertain the idea that it's secretly some quality product, especially not from a series that even at its worst has shown to be able to put out more of an active attempt at making a game rather than just a product made to fill in some checkboxes and bank accounts.
does BDSP add some positive additions over the originals? yeah, sure, but a full console remake of a DS game that improves upon the original in any way should be the bare minimum, and absolutely does not justify the massive tradeoffs it has compared to all of the other remakes in this series.
and whatever the case, it sets a poor precedent for the future of the series: if a clearly rushed, low-budget remake that can only barely be argued as an upgrade over another version of the game its remaking was able to sell 15 million copies, there's nothing stopping gamefreak from cutting even more corners in their future releases. after all, if people have proven that they're willing to buy anything, why bother going the extra mile?
SV's ridiculous amount of bugs and performance issues seems to imply this idea is already becoming more of a reality, and I'm not looking forward to it to the end result.
