>>55393437Yeah, that does make sense. It would still be cool to see them at least give him enough options for a full team of six without the starters though. Like everyone likes to say that Red's team confirms him as the Red from Yellow and that's why he has all the starters, but Blue doesn't use his Yellow team in any other game, nor does any other character, so we know Yellow is not meant to be the canon version, so Red would have had other main Pokemon on his team before getting the other two starters. Would be cool if they had like three other Pokemon meant to represent what those would have been for each starter*. Or followed Espeon's example and gave him one or two new Pokemon from whatever region he shows up in. Alola forms would have been perfect for him since they're all Kanto mons anyway.
*(They sort of did something like that in LGPE by giving him Arcanine and Machamp, but that only works when his starter is Venusaur, and the fact that they gave him two Pokemon historically associated with Blue instead of something fresh was disappointing.)
At the end of the day, I get why they don't do any of this, but it would still be cool if they did. It would help Red live up to all the hype a bit more.
