There's never going to be another new Mystery Dungeon game because there's too many new pokemon now, and people hated it when Gates dexcutted pokemon.

They could pull a reverse of what they had done previously and make one featuring only the new Pokémon. There’s three generations’ worth of Pokémon now that haven’t been in one; and RT had a 3-gen roster. There’d be some backlash for sure; but Gates was bad for multiple reasons beyond removing mons and fuck you, I liked it anyway.

You wouldn't expect to walk out of your big city apartment and see wild giraffes, kangaroos, buffalo, panda bears, maned wolves and penguins? Of course not! They live on different continents. Let alone in your city.

there's over 300 pokemon in gens 7-9, more than enough for a reasonably-sized roster.

Super literally had you travelling from continent to continent and revisiting places from the previous games. They'd have to add all the Pokemon in for a new game, otherwise they'd be downgrading from the previous game - not that it wouldn't be par for the course for Pokemon in general, but still.

I mean yeah someone may be sad they can’t have their favorite mon ever join their exploration team, but like i feel like team building in mystery dungeon games are way less important than in mainline games. I barely take extra members with me anyway

RTDX sold better than both Gates and Super, so I think we’ll get something eventually. They’ve been working on Shiren for a while so I doubt a PMD is coming within the next year or two, but it’s totally happening.

The problem is that the games make use of movepools and TMs from the games, which means in theory any new PMD will be limited to the pool of Pokemon is currently available in the concurrent gen.

I will always think that the Gates dexcut wasn’t a major flaw of the game especially since it was the first pokemon 3DS game with 3D models, and mainline titles are now dexcutting too, the real major flaws of Gates are the slow text speed (this unironically kills pacing) and the spamming of enemy pokemon with Pluck/Incinerate/Bug Bite that constantly destroy your items
OST is top tier but not many people talk about it for some reason

dexcut and slow text speed are what people notice first thing. doesn't help even with the dexcut they made the starter selection shit, even with just unovan pokemon you could've had more than 5 fuckin choices.

last time they did so for md was gates and people hate that one on principle.
not saying it wasn't a good idea but they tend to botch these ideas even the simplistic ones.

I think they won't make a new mystery dungeon because they've mostly pivoted spinoff stuff to mobile games.
I don't think the PMD remake sold that well either so they have no real incentive to continue making PMD.

From what I heard, Japanese fans associate Mystery Dungeon more with Shiren and Dragon Quest and view PMD as a fun Pokemon collab than some high end Pokemon thing. Like the equivalent of a Pokemon themed Monopoly
