I really liked the original and Almia, never played Signs unfortunately but I believe the Arceus capture is amongst the hardest challenges in any Pokemon game

They all have pretty short campaigns so I'd say go for it OP
They all also have Gift Pokemon that you can transfer to main-line games (Manaphy for all three games)
Riolu with Aura Sphere & Darkrai for Almia
Shaymin, Heatran and Deoxys for Guardian Signs
Even though they were wi-fi events you can still get them because the fanmade servers do support Ranger games

Only the Past Temple Arceus which is easily one of the hardest & grindiest things to do in a Pokemon game
The event one is really easy

Drapion's not that hard
Even without using assists it's still pretty easy
Compared to Ranger 1 where not using assists basically makes it the hardest Pokemon game ever

The past missions in Guardian Signs make Ranger 1's difficulty look like XY with the exp share on with max affection bonuses on all your pokemon.

Go Rock Squad may have a better song, but Team Dim Sun's grunts are funnier. And Blake is a better main antagonist than whoever was 1's protagonist. I can't even remember him.

I love 1, didn't really beat Almia as I didn't enjoy it as much, but I really appreciate a lot of its QoL features (bless you, Doduo Field Move). Never played Signs, tho I keep reading it's both the easiest and the hardest depending of the situation.

Something about this series in particular carries a lot of nostalgia vision for people, but they still hold up nicely as spin-off adventures with a unique mechanic. Plus getting the manaphy egg is a fun reward if you know how to still do it.

The other two still have their challenges but ranger 1 is definitely the hardest because you had to do every single capture in one, unbroken loop. They were a lot more forgiving in the sequels but some of those boss fights like the giant Steelix required you to be extremely fast and precise.

It has 2 campaigns
The main campaign which is the easiest one in the entire series
The past temple campaign which is the hardest content (possibly in the entire Pokemon franchise)

I played all of them. From to to bottom from best to least best

Shadows of Almia has a fantastic story and big open world to explore with alot of love and care put into it.

Guardian Signs is very tropical and diverse it reminds me ALOT of Alola including the story it is more focused on the bond between humans and Pokemon

Original Pokemon Ranger was alright in my opinion.

1 is shitty specifically because every boss fight ends in 10 seconds. Doing the temple missions singleplayer in 3 is the only difficulty in this series

I wish the mainline games were made with this art design and open world-ness.doesnt need the full one spinning top mechanic but with how many gen 4 HMS theyre is, it would've been niced to used a temp field Mon to do the job

It's meant to be a co-op multiplayer mode. That's why it's so grindy if you're playing by yourself and yes, I can confirm it is hard as fuck even if you're good at the game.

I liked the original Ranger enough I've replayed it on flashcarts with alternate saves for friends who wanted a Manaphy egg.

I only played Shadows of Almia twice, once as a kid and once about a year after Jaiden tried it, I liked it both times.
