>>55401864Megas were a great concept, but I'm still mad they gave them to a bunch of already-strong Pokemon instead of using it as a bandaid fix for all the useless Pokemon in the dex, so that a handful of Megas would dogpile all the competitive scenes that didn't ban them.
It's my favorite narratively too, I love the concept that you and your Pokemon can connect so well that they can "evolve" again, rather than "haha beams of light make big Pokemon, lol" or "add gem to merchbait wristband and get big free move lol".
The fact that all the gimmicks after Megas were things that buff Pokemon mostly equally just made things worse since 99% of the time the strongest Pokemon would just get stronger from it anyway.
At least with Mega evos, you'd have to sacrifice the held item slot, everything else is just "click button, BOOM."
