Becuase that didn't happen in DP and BDSP was a DP remake, not a platinum one.
New gen pairs sold 16m, rehashes didn't break 8m therefore they remake the game the greatest number of people will have nostalgia for - the new Gen pairs that sold double the total of the rehash version, shat out to keep kids and the addicted paying up.

Yeah and everyone hated it for not fixing the KANTO’s Backyard problem the original had, so Game Freak responded forever abandoning Johto and never making a game like HGSS ever again
