>>55423205In all honesty, that is a valid criticism, I will agree that gen 5 hate was definitely a Reddit bandwagon, but was quickly shut down and labelled a retarded vocal minority. Especially since the gen 5 games were very respectful of the player's decisions. I can see why the transition to 3D was rough, and a lot of the more babyish gameplay did turn off a lot of fans, and even me to an extent. But I (along with many other people) never considered it bad enough to be fully angered and enraged about it, and the quality of the community honestly peaked around gen 6. Granted the 3DS era turned the community into a bit of a coomer frensy, but was chill and fun nonetheless. I personally liked the new gimmicks and quality of life changes in gen 6 and even consider the PSS and EXP share along with easy access to all Pokemon at the time to be the key features that arguably gave the game years of replayability to an extent.
Gen 7, while quite the handholdey slog was still fun nonetheless and also had a pretty good gimmick. A pretty good story, was actually really fucking challenging at some parts, was relatively comfy, loved the full removal of HMs, and online and the PC being a literal paradise for Pokemon was fun.
Gen 8 is when I got really pissed, angry, disappointed, and hated the quality of the franchise due to Dexit, a god awful story, parkinsons level online (Fuck the Y-comm), god awful catching level cap, was mostly an insufferable railroad and the wild areas were in all honesty a godawful mockery of open world, a horrible gimmick, and was just a droppable unfinished piece of shit. SV was hardly better and is carried by indigo disk.
So in all honesty, love the 3DS era, but fuck the switch era.
