They gave Dodrio +10 in speed and I think that one made a difference. It’s still bad, but being faster than a bunch mons allow it to do something.

speed is the one single stat where a few points can make all the difference, yeah.
going from 100 to 110 speed is actually quite significant, while going from 85 to 95 def is literally nothing.

swellow is actually much better off as a scrappy boomburst abuser than it was when it was doing flame orb guts shenanigans.
that 75 spa isn't a lot but when you're rocking a 140bp STAB move and specs it hits pretty goddamn hard, especially for something with 125 speed.

I always though Masquerain was weirdly stacked for an early game bug but that's what makes it fun. It's not sweeping the meta or anything but it's probably the best of it's Special focused Bug/Flying kin.

Urshifu has one of the lowest BSTs of any legendary Pokemon. The only thing saving either form of Urshifu is their signature moves. Hitting through protect doesn't matter in real Pokemon (singles).

Meanwhile there are Pokemon that never got to be decent in competitive. Some of these fully evolved Pokemon are not even decent for a playthrough.

People whose favorites are for example Tyranitar and Garchomp should consider themselves lucky their favorites didn't get fucked over in every possible gameplay aspect from the start because some Pokemon have it very bad.

There need to be shitmons if you want the power distribution to be non uniform.

The may still have purposes and may even be highly rewarding in specific situation, but statistically, they will usually loose.

What's a shitmon you think needs an upgrade/ update? Either an evo, stat change or form. I would say Tropius. It's been around for a long time and it's just pretty shit overall. Maybe not the worst, but when's the last time you used it? They could have given it an evo or stat update in SM.
