It was sad that this never got an official release
I've just learnt about the English patch and am happy to try it out after I'm done with my current game

It doesn't seem like Bulbapedia has the full plot on it, but it seems like the plot is pretty much the same in all versions, with the difference between versions being characters involved, and what dungeons you go to.
It appears as if all 3 games have unique dungeon lists alongside a unique roster of what Pokemon are available. For example along with each version having different starters, each legendary trio that is in the game has one member in each game. What's kind of weird is that despite letting you recruit Treecko and Chikorita, none of the games let you get Bulbasaur and Turtwig.

It's an Explorers reskin that starts in the postgame and has a few new/changed mechanics to change things a bit. Redditors, who've spent over 15 years praising everything about Explorers, and who know nothing about this game other that it has WiiWare models and less of a story focus, decided that it's "bad" without ever playing it, and spread misinformation about its gameplay. It's fine if you don't like this game, for whatever reason. But if you're going to care about it enough to talk about it, make up an opinion for yourself instead of parroting clueless redditors who couldn't even tell you what the name of the game is. To this day, people are still calling this game "that WiiWare game" because all they do is parroting redditors. Even though Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon made references to this game and its name. Even though it has received a fantranslation. Nobody knows anything about it, and yet they act like they know.
