The most that will happen is that it will see that the most recent save is corrupt and it will revert to the previous save.
The game creates back ups thankfully.
If it has been a while since the last save that's a bummer but you shouldn't lose everything.

Getting gen 7 games to crash on unmodded 3DS took no big effort, happened to me when opening the bag menu during the story multi battle with Hau against Faba and an Aether grunt, easily replicable on subsequent tries too.

I know that Sun/Moon crashes if you do the lottery save while Rotom is still talking on the bottom screen. Doesn't corrupt as far as I know
