prinplup is awkward but so is monferno
(grotle is the only good middle starter this gen)
if were going by full lines empoleon wins
if were going only final evos its more or a tie between empoleon and infernape with torterra close behind
(note im not saying torterra is bad in fact torterra is pretty good but its really a battle between these two for the top spot)
gen 4 is the last gen where overall the final starters were very liked and overall balanced in terms of popularity
every gen after 4 has a clear winner(final starters only)
gen 5 is grass
gen 6 is water
gen 7 is fire
gen 8 is also fire
gen 9 is between fire and grass
