>>55453585Honestly BW only having new mons in its regional dex was good, and it did a great job at it; type wise its regional dex is better balanced than those before especially Kanto's.
But the backslash against it from genwunners had them go full fan service with B2W2, and gen 4 mons were what was popular at that point because Sinnoh did a great job at making its dex memorable (Lucario, Weavile and other shillmons being revealed years before DP came out and featured in a lot of stuff including gen 3 spinoff games, the Manaphy egg, DP locking most cross gen evos to the post game which made them seem rare, strong and cool), which is why you see a lot of gen 4 mons in B2W2.
If anything BW's problem was removing content from previous gens, especially gen 4 which to this day has more content than any other. It did add some stuff as well though, but it's still a shame that they didn't put it all in a single game.
I think it's pretty obvious they had a Hoenn remake planned during gen 5, with how gen 3 mons were the only ones with new sprites and they seem to have been made specifically to look like their gen 3 sprites. It's too bad that this was cancelled really, a gen 3 remake in gen 5 would have had the potentiel to be the best game in the franchise. Gen 3 battle frontier with gen 4/5 battle facility mechanics would have been amazing.
