Usually either Blue or DX, unless you /really/ like the GBA soundfont.
Blue has the benefit of double screens, so you can have the map on the top screen.
DX uses 3D models and a watercolor style for graphics, replaces IQ skills with 'Rare Qualities', and removes the basic a-button attack.

The remastered songs in dx suck and the gameplay is so fucking boring somehow. could play the original for hours yet I can't stomach dx for over 40 minutes

There are a decent amount of DS Pokemon spin-offs that came out before DP and don’t have gen 4 Pokemon beyond stuff like Bonsly, Munchlax and Lucario.

there is no major differences between all three versions outside of DX being on a HD system. Get the one you can get for the best price based on what system you have.

DX does kiddify the story a little bit. But it's better mechanically than Red and Blue, so it's definitely a better experience overall.

I like RRT more since I think the 2nd screen is a little cumbersome but frankly it really doesn't matter either way. If you have to pick one or the other over DX pick it based on exclusives you like.
