I bought a Black 2, a Platinum, a DS Lite, and a Japanese 2016 3DS LL last year, the DS lite because my first DS was a 2011 3DS, and the 3DS LL because my US market 2016 3DS XL needs a touch screen repair and I wanted a backup to make me feel less pressure about that repair.
I paid $120 for the 3DS LL, $48 for the DS Lite, $40 for the Platinum (it has a damaged shell) and $60 for the Black 2.
I modded the 3DS LL, my old pancake 2DS, and my 2011 3DS because I had to mod the LL to get it to play my US carts and it was such an easy process that I modded almost all my other DS hardware while I was at it. I left my repaired XL “authentic” because it wasn’t working when I modded the others, but it’s a spare for me now since I’ve been playing the LL mostly.
I also bought physical carts of a bunch of games that were in the $10 bin, Mario Cart 7, Luigi’s mansion, Mario Party, Paper Mario DS, etc.
Ebay prices for US hardware and carts is ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and check actual game shops.
I already had Red, Blue, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Diamond, Y, Sun, and Ultra Moon before last year’s buying spree. I need to open up my GB and GBA carts and replace the batteries, they are all dead.
