All these dumb leaks say we are either getting a Johto or Unova remake or both. Can someone explain as to why they are choosing those two generations specifically? Technically Unova should be up next but why are remakes not sequential? We got LGPE before the BDSP.

Because they aren't actually leaks. They just took what would follow LGPE and BDSP and made up a leak.
Its a better bet than, say, making up a new region.

LGPE is a different beast from regular remakes which clearly aren't over given BDSP released.
We really don't know if LGPE is going to be an entirely new line or a one-time thing.

To capitalize on the ripe age that you adults feel nostalgia for games. The "every other gen" or :ever console" pattern will break down eventually, as that would mean an increasing gap between an original and a remake of it. Following the pattern, Paldea remakes would come out nearly three decades after Scarlet Violet, which would miss the point of revisiting the nostalgia of the people who grew up with those games, as they would be too old. That's why we're way more likely to start seeing a shift to remake happening more often to maintain the "young adults with disposable income" demographic to target with remakes, with dual revisits (as PLA smartly initiated) handling the "keep remakes of remakes fresh in everyone's mind" role and making sure every demographic gets their childhood reminder at the right time.

Didn't stop BDSP from being a15 year gap. It won't stop Paldea/Galar either. Also, who's to say that remakes will be a thing forever? Rmasters and HD revamps can take the place for it as graphics hit diminishing returns, just like how AAA companies are doing.
