Can someone explain to me what ILCA did to enrage people that much? I always assumed they were specifically told to make a 1:1 remaster of Gen 4 with the traditional overhead perspective intact but with remade textures. This is the main criticism, isn't it? That it's too faithful and not a full-on 3D remake? But why would ILCA have any autonomy over these things whatsoever? They did whatever Masuda told them to, which is a 1:1 remake.

Whatever was wrong with BDSP is most certainly not their fault, based on their other games.
100% Masuda was in their ear influencing the game as much as he could, including the 1:1 remake and art style aka Link’s Awakening.

Because Sinnohfags were expecting a Crown Tundra style DP remake with a full size human models and scaling including a full size Dawn model and free camera to look at her ass and instead got a Unity3d student edition DP chibi remaster with a ton of glitches courtesy of ILCA woh's the messenger being shot.

The only negative was the chibi characters. An ILCA BW remake is the best case scenario. ILCA would respect Unova way more with a faithful remake like "Deep Black/Vast White" than modern GameFreak would with a BW3/Legends Kyurem/ScatVomit style remake.
