There is no way you can play gen 1 to 5 on a physical console in the year 2024 so it is ok to emulate them, no? Make sure to buy the Switch games tho.

They're still being sold in stores. Step into any CeX and you'll find Gen 1-5 Pokemon games.

It's not that we don't take care of the old consoles, DSs are handheld meaning they need to charge their battery which decays over time.
My 3DS cannot last 10 minutes fully charged up.
