The Mangas red storyline was so kino it culminates with mewtwo v deoxys on a fucking airship. I'm not sure why the anime did not draw from that.

I am certain there exists a timeline where gamefreak didn't abandon mega evolution and we got Temporal Diamond and Spatial Pearl at least as polished as ORAS, if not as much as HGSS. With megas for the Sinnoh Starters and the orbs serving as mega gems for the legendaries.

PLZA is bringing that back though so who knows, maybe in 20 years.
