there have always been fakes in circulation yes
however, post 2016 china has been going FULL HAM
and they print vintage cards on modern cardstock
if you have a WotC era card
take a look at the cardstock there is a waxy near matte finish
you can see the texture in the grain of the card
ON THE FAKES THEY ARE SMOOTH AS A BABIES ASS
