I havent played competitive in SV but I want to participate in a vgc tournament tomorrow, is there any teams you recommend? Id like to avoid using legendaries if possible, format is doubles

not really, the genies are outshined by things like flutter mane, raging bolt, and urshifu
torn-i and lando-i are good but you definitely don't need them

Go to the event as a spectator and enjoy the show. You probably will have a bad time if you participate. Some of the meta pokemon in VGC are legendaries but it's not necessary. I'd suggest looking up regulation F hard and soft Trick Room team and try practicing them in showdown and online SV.
