Because it’s not controversial. A lot of people love it, a lot of people like it, a lot of people are neutral about it.
Few people hate it, and vp feeds on controversies. Every once and then Kalos fans try to create some rivalry with Alola to stay relevant, but with Z-A they won’t need to force that for a while

Considering all this there's no real reason to talk about them right now. It's between cycles, like gen 4 was during XY era and gen 5 was during SM's era.

these games are so close to being some of the most well-rounded and fun in the series.
Memorable characters, the best region since Sinnoh, everything from the music to the pokemon to the story encompasses the tropics, a fun plot, and more, but they just HAD to make the pacing slower than molasses with less exploration than the series has seen before or since.

i saw a lot of people saying SM were some of the best games in the franchise until USUM came out a year later and it sunk in just how slow and boring the games are.

i agree that USUM is the best way to play SM, people only get pissy because Lusamine didn't hit the fusion dance with Niheligo. My point was that USUM did not address the pacing, the corridor-like structure of the islands, and the large amounts of unskippable dialog, and forcing people to replay those things a year after they already did it made people sour on it. USUM does flesh out a lot of things, like the Pokemon sidequests, the Kanto gym, Ultra WarpRide, Surfing, the expanded dex, all that, but not addressing the pacing made a lot people chalk it up to be "Sun & Moon but the story is worse now"

Hard to argue they didn't fuck up the plot, but yeah it fixed some stuff but there's no fixing the constant stop and go shit.

Every location felt so fucking cramped wasn't helped by half a town being blocked off cause there was a nothing story beat hadn't been triggered yet. I'll never forgive that stoutland shit.

how so? It went from Lusamine being mind controlled by an interdimensional alien into wanting to conquer the world to her being so freakishly autistic about conservation she tried to stop Necrozma by any means.
There are weird inconsistencies like why Lillie would still be dressed like Nigeligo or why Lusamine still froze those Pokemon, but largely I think it grounds the story more.

its because the routes don't have a lot happening, there are few (if any) alternate paths even to just pick up a potion or something, hell a lot of alola routes don't even mandate you go through any grass.

Lusamine being an abusive mother was far more interesting than her USM incarnation, but I guess it was too edgy for how her character is portrayed in every later piece of media other than PokeSpe which is always edgy anyawy.
