Given Arceus, the point of their starters are to slap band-aid fixes on mons with bad stats/typings/movepools. Serp is probably happening given that the only thing it has is Contrary shenanigans but Fire and Water are probably going to Charizard [lives and dies by regional gimmicks] and Empoleon [famously shafted in favor of its first form like Rowlet and stat-screwed]

Just wait until the starters are revealed, only for them to the the OG X and Y starters.
Though DESU I'm expecting them to be gifted as a second selection to choose from, like the Kanto starters were. It'd be a cute callback.
