Regional bird edition
This is just the basic stage. It's based off of kingfishers. What do you think it would evolve into?

I know it's just the basic stage, but if I were you, I'd give it at least one fantastical feature. If you don't, it'll look a bit too much like a regular animal.

It's still a pokemon in and of itself though and it has to stand on it's own weight as a pokemon, which is different from an animal by having a non realistic feature. That's my personal opinion. Btw what you posted is so much better than the real version.

I know and while I like some of those basic 1st stage designs, they're not very good at showing that the pokemon are pokemon. Wtf is pidgey.

A pokérole server I play in has a nacli gang war going on, so I've been throwing together some designs for different nacli variants. These are black pepper and cinnamon, I plan to eventually make variants for sugar, pumpkin spice, garlic powder, and crystal meth.
