Mega Audino has only ever been obtainable outside of events in a single game, and in that game it's given to you after the credits have rolled for the first time - Mega Evolution is introduced to you before the sixth gym and the first Pokemon you get with the ability to Mega Evolve is a fucking Latios, inarguably one of the best megas in the game, and from that point on you'll be guaranteed to have at least 3 other megas, two of which are legendary.
So again, I ask you, what function does Mega Audino serve considering the point in the game you get it in and how weak it is? Is it just supposed to show off that some megas are totally useless and you shouldn't use them? What a great way to sell your gimmick.
