She considers both Mari (black haired, yellow eyed girl I've posted before) and Arai (blonde w/ red eyes) as her actual Sisters despite she actually has no blood relation to either one at all and simply met both when they were like 5-6 years old at different instances in the same year

She largely just prefers either sitting in the cities or out on the routes between town just swimming in her own thoughts when nothing is going on. She's a very contemplative and somewhat ascetic girl and doesn't really feel the need to indulge in the usual activities of normal people and more often than not just is staring off into space or just quietly browsing the internet on one of her devices whenever she's not out looking for trouble or training. Whatever is actually going through her head at those times is almost impossible to guess since she doesn't really speak out about whatever's on her mind much and mostly just keeps whatever she is thinking to herself unless it's shit-talking somebody.

Kleavor exists and just perma throws down Stealth Rocks while also Rock-type checking enemies at the same time with a fuckhuge base ATK stat and middling move power. Then there's that one Pokemon who can fully lay down Toxic Spikes by getting hit and throwing down a set itself or just eating 2 hits with a Focus Sash. Sticky Web also basically does the same thing as Paralyze Spikes would but without the extra layer of occasional Paralyzes. It genuinely wouldn't even be out of line with how fucked the meta is at this point.

Unique gimmicks like the auras of Emily or Azeila. He views them as cheap and unearned and thinks people who have them should either be banned from competitions or flat out killed because it's an insult to fairness and people who have them cannot be trusted. This doesn't include stuff like Ash Greninja, though, as that's more akin to just Mega evolution.

Hasumi's fairly neutral on gimmicks. Doesn't actively use any, but would have no problem in using mega evo (if any of her mons were capable of that), z-moves, and has actually used terastal a few times.

She doesn't have any really, not to dislike them that strongly anyway. However, she does find dealing with mega evolved mons extremely annoying, and on the other side, does not see the charm in gigantamax, mainly left unimpressed by it.

I think you misread. That's exactly why Alex likes it the most.

His view is similar to the Sokovia Accords from the MCU, he dislikes the idea of superpowered sovereign citizens because he thinks that eventually they'll go Lusamine Mode. It's the same reason why he gained a distaste for Teams despite working with one earlier on, he realized that they all eventually just mutate into megalomania.

Literally everything in the OP. Go to the archives mega link and borrow some blank character sheets from the Stat Blocks folder. Go to the Pokemon websites to get inspiration for his team. Go to the ethnographical questionnaire and answer as many questions as you want to in relation to your dude.
Then, go click on any of the AI generators or a drawing tutorial and bring your character to life.
Don't worry about the quality, my first contribution to the thread was made in Paint.

She'd make it a point to physically stomp on him for that assumption alone. Since generally she never does fall into that particular pit. She prefers letting people show their true colors and THEN do something about it because her own existence as a seemingly incorruptible "mutant" means that despite the slim possibility for one to turn out like her and defy the temptations to just go apeshit with the abilities they had been blessed with, not *everyone* by default is immediately prone to going villain mode.

But with that in mind she knows "normies" are too weak to deal with more "properly developed" 'mutants' and is often more than willing to do the culling if the 'mutant individual' in question has indeed gone off the deep end and considers it a bit of her responsibility to send that message to others as one of very few people with such a gift that didn't turn into some kind of megalomaniac. "Don't go full retard with your gifts or you'll have my boot stomping your skull down into a fine paste."

Generalized advice when it comes to OCs is a bad idea because everyone has their own conceptions of how things should be, but if I had to try:

I disagree with this, I think you should take some time and develop your skills at least a little bit before posting artwork. You don't want to look back in the folder and come across your old art as an eyesore.

I feel like if Alex could, he would try to catch Eternatus. He’s definitely a fan of its typing and design, however, he probably wouldn’t be able to obtain it due to its size and the fact that it’s a volatile Pokémon like Hydriegon. He’s not going to catch it in his story but I think it would be interesting for him to have access to the BIG FUCKING DRAGON. He’d just make it his ace (sorry Weavile) and use it to crush competitions, though he wouldn’t use it for any other purposes due to its volatility and size, and the fact that a large enough Pokemon army can in fact defeat it. Like I said before, he’s too smart to be a megalomaniac.

to nobody's surprise, bibi's super sweet on her pokemon, they're family to her and she's the type of trainer to let them roam outside their pokeballs if she's just chilling at home or outside. i've mentioned that outside the main cast she has a bit of trouble getting along with other kids her age at times since she's cringe in and out of universe, which just means she's got more time for bonding and training with her team. she's also quite close with her parents even if they don't 100% approve of her choice to be a trainer post area zero, so her actual familial relations are good.

alto just sees family as family, but honestly, if an older person took up a kind of big sibling or uncle/aunt esque role in his life he wouldn't be able to stop himself from seeing them as family too

i don't think tes even sees his family as family, the kicker here being his parent(s) (i'm still undecided as to whether i want both to be in the picture desu. tes my vile little creature i promise i'll be finished with your backstory and arc one day) never treated him poorly or anything, in fact they placed too much emphasis on putting himself and his wants first, which is *partially* why he is the way he is. nobody really matters enough to him to qualify as "family"

funnily enough, bibi's response to something like that would just kind of be a huffy but resolute "nuh uh", maybe some name calling of her own if alex continued though i doubt he would waste his time doing so.

on the topic of physical confrontation it depends really! an infinity threads ago i establish that during the scene where drayton mocks kieran for losing bibi misreads his character and assumes he's some kind of longtime bully who's responsible for why kieran's changed so much.

this leads her to pick a fistfight she definitely can't win because at that point she's still a little twig of a girl and can't fight well at all until at least her older teens. at that point if it's for something she cares a lot about she'll still scrap, but the events of Indigo Disk mellow her out a lot, so alex would need to do something severe to kieran for it to warrant a fight.

drayton's a chill guy though so he mostly just defends himself because he's got like. a foot of height+4/5 years of age on bibi. i'm sure alex would have her wake up next week.

There's an interesting reason for this: Alex firmly believes that almost everyone is ugly. Good looking people are as rare as Shinies to him. If he comes across an enemy he's attracted to, his desire to fuck them will outpace his desire to kill them, so he'll settle for psychologically destroying them so the thought of challenging him never crosses their mind again. Killing a good looking person would be like trading away a Shiny to him, and he can't bring himself to destroy such specimens.

Rika and Steven Stone are the best examples of the type of person he likes.

I think a big part of Koa’s story involves him (and most Alolans) becoming less naïve, so I feel like if Hemlock were to be defeated with Alex’s help, Koa and his gang wouldn’t take long to realise what Alex’s goals are with his involvement. Battle Spotlight was straightforward to make, but that was due to a lot of factors. I had a team of three, didn't do any of the programming, and the game was just battles. If you want to just focus on that, I recc having a game that's like pokémon stadium where you fight in a tournament and you can show off your ocs there.
The one I'm making is made in Essentials and is needlessly complex, I have a new region, fakemon, and a new currency system that's still unfinished. Also working on it myself, prolly don't need help atm.

Thing is, Alex’s motives do have some good to them as well.

Alex is much more attractive and apparently professional than Hemlock, so I imagine that he’d have an easier time deceiving the natives, especially since all he wants to do is just corner the oil market and nothing more, as opposed to Hemlock forcibly accelerating the modernization of Alolan traditions. He’ll also wait a bit before initiating any operations so as to not build suspicion.

Like I said before, Koa’s only chance at beating Alex would be an extremely well timed Z-Move, as Alex has both the intelligence and strength advantage, and Koa’s friends would have a difficult time with HSS.

I think Zygarde would be a bit difficult to incorporate tastefully. In my opinion it would cheapen Koa’s character development because he’d be assisted by a Legendary as opposed to defeating Hemlock on all his own, which would lessen the impact of his growth.

Regarding Alex, I actually don’t think that would be much of a problem for him. He’d probably just unleash the Legendary Birds of Kanto on it, and if they fail, the Legendary Birds of Galar. And if those fail, there’s always Darkrai and Mega Absol and Pidgeot, not to mention all of the other things Alex has up his sleeve. He might just flat out bomb Zygarde if it gets in the way.

It's the importance of a well-written cavalry scene. A character that stands up for his beliefs knowing that he would lose on his own and giving it his all anyway is rewarded with the help he needs to win. A character who gives up when things get bleak doesn't deserve to be rescued.

Thing is, I’ve kind of been debating whether to have some minor Zygarde participation or to limit Zygarde to some kind of epilogue. But it wouldn’t impede anything I haven’t already planned. I’ve thought of a way where it would work, where Koa has his solo victory, but a big kaiju fight happens after. I’ll explain, but this is big spoilers.

The big finale would involve Koa finally facing Hemlock, one to one. Koa would win, and Hemlock, out of desperation, would summon Eternatus, either from some kind of leftover tech from Chairman Rose, or with some Ultra Wormhole fuckery. Eternatus’ arrival would force some kind of response in kind. I was initially planning to have Elio return and maybe use Necrozma, but if Koa gets to meet, say, 10% Zygarde in one episode and it comes back for the big kaiju fight now, in a way where Koa and Zygarde are working together to defeat Hemlock’s out of control nuclear option, I think that would make for a very cool finale. Koa already won against Hemlock one on one and finished his arc, Zygarde just shows up to be the final spectacle.

I think inevitably, the writer would choose who wins kek

Yes, and the reason is because of circumstance. For example, the Graxum region doesn’t have Pokemon Centers, so Alex has to smuggle in only a few of his best, and since Pokemon are tightly regulated he has to be conscious about when he uses them. Alex also can’t unleash all of his Pokémon at the same time, he’d have to release them in “waves” of three or two so that he can efficiently command them, which gives time for an opposing party to build up a larger fighting force. And that’s not even considering that he’s have to gather and carry all of them there in the first place. Sure, Alex could blow things up, or send in some mercs, but then it would make it clear that he’s the bad guy. He’s still concerned with appearances, and at that point he would begin questioning if conquering the Alola market would even be worth it.

Side note, if Alex seems overpowered it’s because I’m talking about his “final” incarnation at the end of Act 5 where he has all of his desired Pokemon except for Yvetal which he never gets his hands on. Your best bet to win is to simply overwhelm him and make him pull out, because then you make him think that fighting is no longer worth it.

Also, William no longer has access to Calyrex after someone pointed out that it would detest him for the way he governs things. Mega Charizard X was enough, anyway.

To be fair, it's been over a year in Emily's timeline since that and she's massively improved but now she's occupied with a human supremacy cult called the Collective that is basically the complete opposite of Team Plasma in every way and wants to denounce Legendaries like those twins in Sw/Sh did and think Pokemon are to be controlled or exterminated. To be honest, I’ve actually been considering cutting out Mega Absol and Pidgeot in favor of Darkrai and Interlude 4 is instead set in Alola, where Alex comes accross Stakataka and does some pretty and things in order to get his hands on it. Absol and Pidgeot are the only Megas that Alex would realistically like, but with Darkrai and Galarian Moltres he might just not need them anymore. It would also help with balancing since Alex doesn’t use a Z Move in the proposed Alola arc or any other gimmick (not because he dislikes them but rather because he just simply never uses them)

I’m on the extreme end of this because Alex’s story runs for 15 years and has multiple interludes dedicated mostly to training and catching Pokémon, as well as Act 1 being focused on that. I would suggest that you do the same, but I recognize that not everyone is able or willing to do that, but I think it would be a good idea for you to depict those kinds of things for Bibi and Tes (Kieran as well maybe) in some capacity as an overarching development of your story.

- Emily easily counts as an Abnormal. A derogatory term to describe a freak of nature that seems to break all the natural rules but also existing in the upper echelon of physical power in the world. A term very openly used to describe her and her sisters by the human supremacy cult the three of them openly fight against. The Collective deems them in need of being outright exterminated. Emily and her sisters take a stark pride in being given such a title by a group like the Collective and they consider it the Collective's own form of fearful but also hateful reverence for how firm of an obstacle they are to their goals.

- People like Alex and Axel and such are what the Collective would call Dominants. A similar class to Emily and her sisters even if there's a gap but also used to describe powerful individuals who in a sense "play by the rules" in their very existences. They're strong but don't outright shatter any norms or 'established rules of nature' and the fact that despite their strength, they can still be fenced in and pinned beneath their thumbs with the right approach.

- Bibi, Rouka and maybe others would be considered "Normals"-- which to be clear is different from the usual chaff despite the name. The actual chaff that makes up the large majority of the population get called Smallfolk by both the Collective AND Emily and her sisters. Or simply called Civilians. "Normals" are battle-capable individuals but rest somewhere between Civilian and Dominants. Like how a Normal Mage in a fantasy setting is more powerful than a Farmer but still can't hold a candle to an Archmage.

- And then finally you have Smallfolk/Civilians. Which is basically everybody else.

There's isn't much to know really.
They surely could get along well enough, but the initiative would have to come from Koa, since Ayumu doesn't have much interest in people.
The main difference between Ayumu and Koa is their sense of responsibility. While Koa has a self-imposed duty and works towards that, Ayumu just wanders around aimlessly, with no goal in mind; while Koa would probably offer help to anyone who needs, Ayumu only helps if asked (i.e. if he sees someone that clearly needs help, he won't lift a finger if the person doesn't ask for help. . . except in dangerous situations where the person doesn't have the leeway to ask, or cases of Pokémon abuse).
Here's some other traits:
>Ayumu is very strong as a trainer
>However, avoids battling like it's the plague
>Since he trains his Pokémon himself, Ayumu is an specialist in evasion and could probably parkour with Koa around the canyon

Champion Level would be a bare minimum Dominant depending on the champ. Pushovers like Wallace would be the top of "Normals". Alder would be bare minimum to Dominant. Leon, Lance and so on would be mid-Dominant. Cynthia and Red would be the upper reaches of Dominants. Emily as an Abnormal has in a sense massively evolved since where she stood when she lost to Cynthia at the Selda Championship and you'd be hard pressed to recognize her from said event in terms of battle capabilities since the Collective is basically Team Plasma on steroids. Adversity is Emily's main choice in terms of making herself stronger after all. So take that as you will as to assess where different characters stand by comparison.

In my universe legendaries are FAR stronger than normal pokemon, and even minor ones like the birds can only be reasonably battled by top tier trainers. Axel only starts going after them after he's made a name for himself though several league victories.
And to that extent, the evil teams don't really exist because stuff like Kyogre/Groudon/Rayquaza and Dialga/Palkia/Giratina are calamities that should not be attempted to be awoken under any circumstances.

i see what you're getting at and i respect that approach since 15 years is more than enough time to become a godtier trainer but i'm not nearly so ambitious creatively.

Ruka anon here. Not sure where I'd place her on the scale. Ruka is a very "go with the flow" kinda trainer. That said by the end of her journey she's a good enough trainer to beat Red on Mt Silver. Hard to say if that's the strength of her as a trainer or just the strength of her pokemon or both. She would rather have them play to their own strengths and desires than actually have a strategy worked out.

Humans in the Pokemon World largely are not receptive to Infinity Energy (the energy that lets Pokemon do all the stuff they do and what powered the Ultimate Weapon and such). And most who do have some receptiveness to it are mostly minor occurrences like the usual Psychics and Fighting type trainers who can do stuff like actually fight their own Fighting Pokemon to a standstill and maybe even win or stuff like how Maylene literally walks up to Snowpoint in her usual attire and barefoot like it's no problem. But the low amount they are actually receptive to simply makes people think of them as exceptional, prodigious individuals. Emily's both receptive and capable of GENERATING Infinity Energy. She breaks all the norms of how a human is differentiated from a Pokemon due to a seemingly random variation of Symmetry Breaking due to being able to outright generate Infinity Energy and it causes something of a force multiplier for herself and her own Pokemon as that energy travels along that invisible tether between Trainer and Pokemon, resulting in otherwise unnatural displays of ability. Her ability to generate Infinity Energy like a Pokemon and be receptive to it is what makes her generally stronger than most Trainers and also what fulfills the second half of the Abnormal criteria.

She used to only be able to truly tap into it by way of an Anger Point type of effect and basically going Berserk but ever since losing to Cynthia she scoured for answers about Mega Evolution and also learned from a Scientist about her Infinity Energy receptiveness. But now she can more easily tap into it at will and has massively ascended from the level she stood on when she lost to Cynthia over a year ago in the timeline.

Personally, beating Red on Mt. Silver is still a significant feat but I feel like by that point he began sort of "eroding" a bit and that in his more adult years (Sun and Moon) he's become less and less battle focused and became more lax. Red's peak in my mind was when he had just beaten Blue and from there ever since he basically tossed aside the crown, he slowly declined. Not because he became washed up but simply because he found other things to likely focus on since he kinda already climbed the highest peak of his time and he had no real idea of where or what to look towards next. Mt. Silver was him trying to figure out what he could aspire to next upon completing the Pokedex AND becoming a champion of the most dominant Pokemon League at the time and eventually he came down from that mountain and began taking part in things other than battling.

At least that's my take on it. So I'd still say it was a large achievement that would still put her over many other Dominants but it wouldn't really put her on par with Red at his all-time peak.

I think Silas has received the message loud and clear that he’s very much bitten off more than he can chew with what he thought was a simple heist of the Heriot family from Team Aqua.

Reasons why I hesitate posting this, but I spent a good amount of time on it. Where it might not be lore accurate and make choices for secondary characters, it’s content and coming from a place of admiration for others work and worlds. I think a happy medium is allowing trainer OCs to be affected by and interact with outside universes, but never completely changed or blocked from continuing to do their thing in their respective owners headcases. This can help test where the line stands, what people are comfortable with, and if it’s too far... It’s too far, and we don’t do it again.
In terms of battling, if it’s just a simple scrimmage with nothing on the line for either character and both trainer’s agree. Should be fine.

In my world, experience, skill, and strategy can only get you so far when even a legendary on the lower end of things is to the average pokemon as Mega Fug and Zacian-Crowned were to Smogon. Let alone something like a Koraidon which I'd estimate to be at least a tier above the birds.

Although, that doesn’t stop me from headcanoning that kind of thing.

I think watching a Bibi VS Emily fight would be great, I imagine both of them at around the same level. Maybe Alex too. (Assuming it’s a “mid-story” Alex without his 15 or so legendaries) By the end of his story, Koa will be close to this level. With a 2 year time skip, which is how I portray him in most character interactions, he would be there. And also, by then his Gabite and Larvitar would be fully evolved. I mean, I feel that in the event of a crossover, everyone would have to play ball with these things a little bit. Also, remember Bibianon (or anyone) could just pop up and say “oh yeah Bibi has apocalyptic level power” just because he/she says so. You could in theory do the same, and then it turns into a playground fight where one kid has the sword that breaks all shields and the other kid has an invincible force field that the sword can’t break. So yeah, this is something that can only be objectively gauged when someone posts a doc.

He was passive-aggressive about it but I essentially had to let him win because he kept bullshitting and I had no way to convince him that he was at a disadvantage. Also, we were supposed to register our Pokémon’s movesets. He never did. He spammed Psycho Cut when in reality he just picked the best thing from Sneasel’s learnset without bothering with consistency.

After that I got in touch with one of the mods, who told me that guy’s just kind of a bullshitter. I then left that RP to do a one-on-one with her that went on for a while, but life pretty much got in the way for me. I feel kinda bad for that. Her character was very fun too, an Interpol officer with a Toxapex and a Ferrothorn. Kinda like a cross between Bibi and Phos. Maybe I should get in contact again

Ah yes, the ACTUAL power trippers who think they're clever. It's one thing to tank maybe 3-4 major hits AS LONG as the Pokemon is KNOWN for being tanky or at least isn't some frail glass cannon shit like Sneasel. Yeah I basically started doing that in the on-set of 2013 too. Tried the Showdown room once too, was a bunch of power tripping kids, dipped real fast. But yeah basically my own worst enemy cause of my somewhat picky, particular tastes but I learned that going outside of those tastes just drains my drive to write to 0. Sucks to be me.

You’re for the most part spot on with what you wrote. Midgame Alex sound still easily defeat the Kahunas and the Tapus and Totems and Koa in my opinion, but only on their own, not all at once. That being said, Alex always tries to portray himself as a sensible alternative, “nothing like good old fashioned oil”, he’s not seeking to transform Alola like Hemlock, simply corner the market, so I think there would at least be a bit more difficulty with figuring out his goals.

If Alex finds out about Zygarde, he’d probably try to get some of the cells and keep them away from anyone, but that might put him at risk of being exposed earlier than he would like. He probably would try to prolong the war by supporting both sides, now that I think about it.

That was my original plan. Big kaiju fight between Eternatus and Ultra Necrozma. However, I’ve realised this doesn’t work so well for a few reasons:

1. Koa doesn’t know Elio personally. Koa’s had his own island challenge, a little before Elio’s since they’re both around the same age, but they have no connection. Not just that, but then it feels like some other guy saved the day.

2. If Elio shows up out of nowhere, yeah, it makes sense because he’s been stated to be in Ultra Space before, but why show up NOW of all times? How could Elio have known about Hemlock or Eternatus to show up at THAT specific time?

3. Zygarde just works so much better as the cavalry. Zygarde represents balance for the world against an offset. Hemlock’s meddling and transformation is economical and also geological in some aspects. He’s drilling, inserting Dynamax Spots, adding machines where there were none before. Not just that, but Zygarde appeared in Sun and Moon with no explanation. Now there is one. And Koa has better potential to connect with Zygarde than with Elio.
In one of the chapters, my running idea is to have Zygarde cells start showing up. Koa gets asked to track them down, maybe he finds a core. Some of Hemlock’s people could’ve started capturing them too. When he reaches a significant story moment, the cells fuse and Koa fights together with 10% Zygarde in one situation. After the adventure is resolved, Zygarde is reassured about Koa’s character. It fucks off, but in the final chapter, when Zygarde returns in 50% or 100% form to help, there’s a connection, and the moment has had seeds sewn that grew afterwards.

She wants power cause to her, power is the ultimate freedom, to live as you please and unable to be pinned under the thumb of someone else. Unable to be threatened, fenced in or suppressed. Power is Freedom and Freedom to live as she pleases is all she aims for apart from simply that feeling of self improvement. That power also means she can impose her will on the world more and in her case that means stomping on groups like Team Plasma, or specific to her own story, the Collective because they trample over their own fellow human beings AND over Pokemon for what they want and for delusions of tyrannical control over the world and it's people.

She simply wants other people to be strong enough to defend their own freedoms, and to at least be able to hold the line until someone more capable can finally get there to save them simply because "Defenders" can't be everywhere at once and sometimes someone has to become that hero they need. She also just wants to be able to preserve her own freedom by never being actually threatened by someone or something in the world around her and to simply pioneer the way forward into what kind of heights exist beyond the mountain peak that is the Pokemon League-- namely what is out in the space beyond the world in this mountain metaphor. "The sky is the limit in itself as a phrase is small-thinking and I want to know what is out there BEYOND that sky and to know where I stand on the grander stage that no doubt exists out there." She also just finds battling, both formal and unhinged deathmatches to be FUN while also feeling an almost indescribable satisfaction whenever she makes leaps in progress of her abilities or manages to invent a move that no one else has / manages to teach one of her Pokemon a move they otherwise normally don't learn.

Ayumu mumbles, which prompts the Mawile to motion as if falling from her seat, to then transform into her Ghost form and proceed to dive right into the floor. Ayumu continues to observe in silence as the 2 men attempt to intimidate Silas when a Cramorant flew into the bar in Silas' direction, but before it could take Wheaton the Volbeat into its beak, a shadow spikes up from the ground, enveloping the blue bird.
After the initial surprise, Silas and the men realize that the shadow piercing the bar ground to ceiling is identical to a Mawile's horn, but much, much longer. The shadow mouth then swings and tosses the bird right between the 2 men, knocking it out on impact. The men whose vision followed the now unconscious bird, turn to face forward once again, just in time to see a Mawile emerging from the floor, in a form they have never seen before, her big eyes staring at them as if glaring at their very souls. Flight response kicks in, but as the men were about to flee, Silas tosses his Pokenav at them.

One of the goons looks at the Pokenav, looks back at Mawile, grabs the Pokenav and they run away, leaving their bird pawn behind.

That’s Godzilla VS Megaguirus, where he indeed resists a black hole. But that’s not much compared to Superman’s craziest comic feats. However, all these comparisons are dependent on knowing each version of the characters we’re using, etc. Just keep in mind that this is Godzilla from the Legendary movies, where his strongest feat is drilling through the Earth with his atomic breath, while Superman in the comics has some insane feats like lifting a book with infinite pages, bench-pressing planets, sneezing galaxies away… (of course, depending on the version). It would seem like the Superman from this comic specifically was supremely nerfed. Thank Toho’s lawyers for that, they have a clause in their contract for film licensing where Godzilla can’t lose a fight or die without leaving a successor.

And yeah, it’s tragic. He had so much left to live and work on. At least he brought so many people together (I would know, as a Spanish speaker).

The way I try to write it, Koa wants to put himself in a position of great importance because he thinks he’s prepared and he can help others. But he’s very concerned with overstepping; especially when he starts to become more of a hero. When he gets to push back his enemies, go through each challenge and others start looking up to him, that can lead to a raised ego. Koa doesn’t want that.

There’s a theme of leadership here: Koa’s initially just a tour guide. He’s a guide, and as a Trial Captain he guides others through a test of courage. But as he grows as a person and others start to depend more on him, that leads to the question: am I fit to lead others? How can I be sure that what I want is the best? What can I do for other people? Can I really give them what they want?

Koa’s answer is to side-step the question. He’ll “shackle” himself to try and help others to find freedom against adversity. Koa’s way of “leading” revolves around elevating others, protecting others when they’re down and caring for a natural order. He won’t overstep.

This is different from, say, a position of political power where what one says goes to law. Koa would never want to be in that position. And I think that’s also good meta-narratively: I never wanted Koa to get too big. Yeah, he has his adventure and he gets to be a hero, but he’ll end up being a bit more secluded afterwards. Heck, I see adult Koa as kind of a hermit, only appearing when needed.

I’ve detailed before that Koa sometimes likes Pokémon more than people. Maybe because he sees that people can have a lot of evil or selfishness that most Pokémon don’t have by default. He just wants to make sure he doesn’t end up like that.

So yeah, Emily’s “nah I’d win” stance about power and corruption isn’t enough for Koa.

I wouldn't blame Koa for being concerned. Axel paints his goals as "ambitions". An ambition to grow stronger after getting his ass kicked hard by Mewtwo after becoming a Kanto champion. An ambition to catch the legendary birds (and Tornadus). And an ambition to get his salty runback against Mewtwo. It'll make anyone think Axel is planning on using the legendaries to supplant himself on top of the world but really he's just bad at expressing himself. After enough time, Koa would come to see that Axel's heart is in the right place.

i try to make tes a negative mirror of bibi in a lot of ways. when she realizes she's weak, she tries to hone her body. when tes realizes he's weak he picks up a weapon. take away his knives and he's pretty wimpy.

i mostly drafted up that kalos stuff for the sake of rolling with an anon's question so none of it would be canon, but alto with the steel chair is forever a hilarious way to end things. if koa did the singing while alto handled instrumentals a concert between them might actually turn out ok.

as for the og tes/bibi plot the core concept im trying to build on is that he manipulates her into unsealing the treasures of ruin for him (because iirc it can only be done by the pure of heart) before trying to take her out of the picture so nobody can stop him from doing as he pleases! he's sly and good at playing nice but who knows, maybe koa has a 6th sense for detecting greedy slimeballs?

I think I see now why you say Emily’s an idealist. Emily believes so fervently that she’s right that all the tough questions she asks others, maybe she doesn’t ask them to herself. She just thinks she’ll be fine, she won’t be corrupt because she thinks she knows what to do, when she could perfectly end up like anyone else in her same situation. Maybe having been born as a “freak” for battling, or whatever you’d describe it as (a Dominant? The stage beyond that?) makes her think she’s above all those issues of human greed. She asks herself those questions and has been tempted with offers that greedier folks would take and has turned them down. She even rejected Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals and was determined to beat Ghetsis and Kyurem on her own back in Unova. Also the criteria used for Emily is "Abnormal". She doesn't need or want more money, lavish living or handouts despite the opportunities to all of them as both a child of a rich family and just enemies trying to sway her with offers to try and get her onto their side.

She's only interested in being Free, improving herself and stomping on whoever comes at odds with her own virtues which just happen to be of a more relatively heroic bias despite the moral grayness behind them. She is the very definition of Symmetry Breaking. An otherwise orderly (predictable-- but not ultimately "good"), symmetrical system has defined most of humanity. And those rules and virtues just happen to tend towards something that has her usually portrayed as more of a morally grey hero. Like how corny, virtuous heroic capeshit types constantly wrestle with moral high ground shit while Emily leaps to outright preferring to KILL an enemy if they seem too fargone to ever go back from the criminal path they ended up on.

Emily's rules and virtues are very simple.

Though of course this virtue also extends to Pokemon as well, both in perpetrator and victim. Otherwise she doesn't care what people do as long as it doesn't hurt ordinary people just trying to live their life without stepping on others around them.

I think it’s more that, Emily might not have asked herself if she might be wrong. Or maybe she has, and she simply resolved she wasn’t. In a way, Koa and Emily work in very similar ways, but they’re also completely different. They both want to protect the innocent from selfish megalomaniacs. But their thought processes are different:

I think to clarify, since we always say a lot of things about this: Koa acts when he sees necessity and his own ability to act. He wants to be a Trial Captain because he thinks he’s suited for the position and it’s one that doesn’t even exist in Poni. He thinks he can contribute by taking that responsibility, which no one really asked him to take. He leads the charge against Hemlock because he sees himself in a position where he can help, people sort of rally behind him in a way he doesn’t intend. And after, he doesn’t know how to act when people start looking up to him. Not that he wants to take a burden off of himself, but Koa wants to do only what he thinks he can do, because what he can do, he should. That’s a stoic ideal. Someone like Elio thinks less about his own relationship with morality and Koa finds himself preferring when Elio goes back to his champion duties and Koa just does his own work. Eventually, Koa would take a little bit of time to travel and reflect on himself. After that, he’d probably take an E4 position.

But deep down… Koa’s actually just a few bad human interactions from becoming a hermit. He’s stuck in a world that’s changing around him and he doesn’t like that. People are fighting around him for petty reasons and a natural order of things is constantly being upset because one day, someone wants to do something, and the next, another person disagrees and enforces their own will through violence.

Koa doesn’t want to act like those people, because he doesn’t think himself above anyone. Why does HE have to decide on something where he doesn’t believe he’s strictly needed?

I think, a full epilogue to Koa’s story would be the following: He’ll spend some time as an E4 as soon as Kahili or someone else steps down from the position. He’ll act as he always has, helping others when needed. But one day, he’ll probably just vanish and retreat to the Canyon. He’ll just get fed up with people and go live off of the land with his Pokémon partners in a place he feels is untainted. Because where uncertainty reigns, the law of nature is universal. Koa likes that stability, and the innocence, the honesty of Pokémon, compared to the greed of humanity. However, I’m sure that one day, when he’s needed again, an older, scarred and badass-looking adult Koa will resurface.

I guess that's something Koa and Axel could get along with. Once Axel accomplishes what he sets out to do, he no longer needs to work with the system he dislikes and so he just...vanishes. His family knows his whereabouts but it's completely unknown to the public eye.

See, a lot of this is motivated by the biggest story spoiler I haven’t told yet, and which I won’t tell until I write it. Something that changes Koa’s outlook on how people see him after the Hemlock situation. Koa really isn’t an action hero — I intend to write Elio that way, in whatever capacity he shows up. Koa just wants people to be okay, but he seriously doesn’t want people to start treating him like anything more than he is. The day people start going to him for advice that he doesn’t think he should give, or ask him to help with unnecessary things, Koa would start getting fed up. And if he feels like people will be able to enjoy peace for some time… he’ll take a hike for a while until he’s needed again. He wants NONE of the glory, because with glory comes things that he doesn’t think he’s in a position to do.

Koa’s all about “if I don’t do this, who will?”, but there are roles he thinks he shouldn’t fill. He’s a guide, not a ruler. The day he has to enforce his will on someone, he’ll feel like he’s no better than Hemlock. That’s why, the day he’s no longer needed, he’ll just dip. That’s what he thinks is the most noble and wise decision to make.

Besides, Koa would have done a lot of thinking at this point about what he wants to do with his own freedom, for his own happiness. And he’ll realise that being in nature, at the Vast Poni Canyon or places like Area Zero for example, places he thinks are untainted, is what actually makes him feel at peace the most. Being able to just spend his days with his partners, out in the wild… that’s paradise for Koa. But he keeps himself from doing this when duty calls.

Some scrapped storylines that I had for Alex

One of the biggest disappointments... even among animes like Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, InuYasha and others, Shaman King was my favorite as a kid, I watched all 64 episodes 7 times back then, and a couple more after i gained access to the internet.
Then you can imagine how happy I was when they announced the remake. . . just to then adapt 300 chapters in 54 episodes (10 episodes less than the original, that didn't even have the complete manga to go by).

Nowadays, I see people hoping for Soul Eater to get the "Brotherhood treatment", but whenever I see it I can only fear that it would get the "Shaman King treatment" instead...
This is basically trauma.

This is the best alternate series of events!! And I like it better than mine because we get to see Miku.
I think that the Sad Stoutland would have Coke Vanilla. At the time of writing I didn't know exactly what Ayumu would want.
Might have missed the lore on how Hime attains a shadow form, but that's a rad maneuver.

Given the opportunity, this alternate reality Silas would for sure be in to check out the Aurelian Pokemon Academy with Ayumu after he just saved Wheaton from being bugnapped.

I think it could be deserving of its own pastebin if that's something you want to start to pin alongside the first pastebin. Or I could add it to my paste as the alternate route. I'll also make sure to change up Midori to Mori. I made sure to check the archives for your character sheet before writing!

But yes, Axel is correct. Silas would hope Axel and his Pokemon would use their power and influence to apply something tangible to the world. Research for the sake of research is great and all, but it's about what you do with what you have. And given his stance on Koa, I'm sure Axel's actions heard through the news would improve Silas's opinion of him.

Imagine two Z-Moves colliding, and the Trainers start doing extra dances or yelling out something in order for their Z-Move to win. Phos's outfit is very definitely hers, and includes a lot of different elements that don't really fit neatly under any one label. Some parts are distinctly punk, and some parts are grunge, but she doesn't hide her curves under baggy layers. The suspenders are hipster, but the cropped jacket and tight leather pants say biker babe instead. Rather than trying to categorize it, it's easier just to say "that's her style," and move on.

Axel is very conceited. What he wants to do with what he has is satisfying his own desires. It stems from being left out/bullied during his school years due to being the "weird" one and developing a superiority complex as a coping mechanism. Axel liking birds is not just an autist special interest, but also because they symbolize freedom in his eyes. After all what other species of animal travels as far of distances as they do? And so he lives his life like a bird, doing what he wants.
He doesn't have the mindset to become a villain, but he sure as hell wouldn't call himself a hero. If he helped Koa, it wouldn't be because of him using his talents as a trainer to help, but of his own selfish desires of keeping Alola a haven for certain species of birds he wouldn't find anywhere else.
I've been meaning to write about Axel's inner darkness for a while so thanks for giving me a good opportunity to talk about it.
