I agree. It's nice to see how Barry and the Player get involved in a rather dangerous situation by being reckless and have to use Pokémon that belong to other people without permission to have a chance.
Platinum shares the similarity of both characters doing something reckless, but I don´t like the execution as much.

I tried to play Pearl again recently but got bored so fast. I just gave up once that fag made me team up with them for double battles in Eterna forest. I rather replay gen 5 instead, that's what I'm doing now. But if I ever do re-play Sinnoh I promise you I WILL use Obamasnow. Snover+Obamasnow are definitely the best part of Sinnoh, I want it to be my "ace". I just have to make it to that part of the game without dying of boredom first. I generally love Mt Coronet, it's my favorite dungeon in the whole series honestly. But the early-game Sinnoh is so boring and so slow.

The worst part is the selection of Pokemon before the postgame. Particularly the general lack of fire types if you didn't take the monkey.
I'm playing Alpha Sapphire right now, took the Mudkip and am now fighting the urge to import a Fennekin egg from Kalos. But even so, it's still better than pre-Platinum Sinnoh.

Right now I don't have one. I recall having a Torkoal back on the GBA ones. The general lack of good fire types just seems strange in a region that features a volcano and Team Magma.

DP are great for specific runs imo. I've planned a Flint and Volkner DP team (I'll add Skunktank for Flint in Diamond as a 6th member, and Pachirisu and either Whiscash or Golem as a 6th for Volkner in Pearl) and I'm trying to figure out which mons to add to make a unique team of 6 for a Candice team (if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them). There are also 6 unique Fighting types fore a mono Fighting team, 6 unique Steel types for a mono Steel team, lots of Bug types for a mono Bug team, 5 or 6 Grass types, you get it...

Obviously Platinum is the better game (like all third versions) but it doesn't invalidate DP at all, and that's actually intentional. All third versions go out of their way to have differences that justify replaying the base games over them if you want, such as pokemon exclusive to the base games. Emerald doesn't have Roselia while both Ruby and Sapphire do, for example.

I wouldn’t say cooler but I do like it quite a bit better. Like, I had never noticed it before, but when I eventually played DP again after basically only ever playing platinum, and then went back to platinum, I noticed that its opening has weird pacing in comparison to DP. Like, it’s clear that it’s a modified version of the original opening.
