It basically did to Gen 8 Ubers what Incineroar has been doing to doubles since it got Intimidate. It stops hyper offense from running away with games and it stops stall from slowing games down to a crawl.

The only thing iffy about it is that Head Smash has a nasty tendency of missing. Theoretically, if you hit every single one it's amazing, but in practice you end up clicking Flare Blitz more often because that can't miss.

Despite being 120 bp, Flare Blitz is 25% weaker than Head Smash. It's definitely a viable alternative since dealing 80% of a target's health is sometimes safer than an 80% chance to OHKO them and a 20% chance to do nothing.

Amoongus was always a shitmon. It was only ever kept viable by having one of the top 5 strongest moves in Pokemon history in its move pool. You take away Spore and no one uses it anymore because they only ever used it in the first place to abuse sleep.

Genesect easily would have been back. It lost a lot of its best moves, and Download isn't reliable enough. If Darkrai is fine, there's no reason for the surfboard bug to remain an Uber.

Gouging Fire is really difficult to check and it's movepool is amazing, so that makes sense at least. The real issue though as usual is the fucking amount of hazard spam that goes unchecked and the sheer amount of busted setup mons, I think if Gouging didn't have access to Dragon Dance anymore, it might have been considerably more balanced, but the trannies behind shitgon can't be bothered to do "complex banlists" anymore.

Most of the megas are outclassed at this point. Mega-Lopunny is going to have a hard time handling Zamazenta, Dragapult, Deoxys-Speed, Blaziken, Dondozo, and Barraskewda. 135 speed isn't all it's cracked up to be in this meta. Neither is base 136 unboosted Attack. Roaring Moon has 139 base Attack and it struggles to nab KOs without Dragon Dance/Band/Protosynthesis.

Honestly, gen 6 PU was the peak of competitive play. There was so much poverty and jank in the tier, combined with how baton pass worked back in that gen that you had a lot of fun varied teams. Passing Iron Defense to Kingler was a really fun way to build a team

Bulky Ground type pivots are a backbone of the game because they provide you general support against strong Electric type threats, can switch into Stealth Rocks without much worry, and don't have easily exploitable weaknesses that let them last a bit longer than any Pokemon without recovery should.

That's a huge plus. Role compression is huge when you need to check so many threats with only so many teammates. Even if the ubiquitous bulky Ground type pivots aren't winning any games on their own, they just do so many things that they open up your teambuilding options immensely.

If you have Swampert/Lando/Great Tusk set up your rocks, you can now fit another move on your Heatran or Garchomp or Tyranitar.

Garg ban when? It's broken, it just doesn't get as much usage sometimes because it's a defensive mon. If you get rid of the opponent's special attackers, it wins games on it's own, and it can Tera out of it's most exploitable weaknesses
