I don't think it was bad (in fact I quite enjoy it) but people acting like it was the best Pokemon game since Sliced Bread version while ignoring it's numerous flaws have soured me on it over time.

It was "good" by Switch Pokemon game standards but boring. There's nothing to do in the overworld and the gameplay was just catching the same Pokemon 10 times.
