>>55569110I like battling, it's one of my favorite aspects of the game.
With games like RR, not only there are a lot of cool and interesting battles, but there are also a fuckton of cool changes to mons I really like. Being able to use a Mega Centiskorch that was an actual strong mon was exhilarating.
If you want a game with a completely new region, completely new story, or whatever, there are plenty of those around, they have existed for ages now, and I have played many of them. But RR just gives me battles that are super exciting and fun.
>>55569262My guess for why those other games don't get as much flack for their difficulty is because those games offer good and complete experiences as well as a decent level of challenge on their own. Take Zelda, for example, BoTW is a game with a massive world that is super interesting to explore, has decently challenging boss battles and special battles, and is overall an excellent open world exploration experience.
Now compare it to SV, it barely offers any of that. The exploration is boring and limited, and if you go off-path, then you get maybe a few challenging battles due to battling things outside of your level range, and those completely ruin the rest, because now all the other places that are lower leveled than you are just completely trivial. So the game offers almost no challenge, no good exploration, barely any interesting story/characters. At least if it was consistently hard, with gyms and stuff scaling to your level, the battles would be memorable, you would get cool stories about how you clutched a battle with your last mon, but you get nothing.
