Pokemon Legends Z-A is both a prequel and sequel to XY.
You start off in the present day (takes place after XY), which is where the hub city of Lumiose is.
You continuously travel to the past where Lumiose is a wide open and vast wilderness, and complete missions.
As you continue to go to the past and change events, the city in the future changes.
Ultimately you unlock Zygarde and go back in time to stop the firing of the ultimate weapon.
This has ramifications for M Evolution in the series moving forward, in a way that I won't spoil.
Primal Xerneas and Primal Yveltal are a thing.
The starters are Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup but they have regional forms.
Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie lines get M Evolutions, along with 11 other Pokemon lines.
Still no M Flygon.
There are also paradox forms and cross-gen evolutions.
