Finally gives me a reason to pick grass and water starters, why? Helps that they're canny enough to make the waifumon starters strong to give non cumskull little boys a reason to pick the girly looking thing (and helps shape them into good little furry teens when time comes) which means I get a waifumon that cuts through the region for shits, giggles, fun and profit.
My default is "pick Fire type" because of the three starters, that's the rarest archetype among the region's demographics (meaning the type least easily replaced) and they generally try that bit harder with the starters than with the mid-region offerings design-wise on top (the recent selection of non-starter Fire types added the last Gen or two being decidedly mid in my eyes).

Kids playing the games for the first time. And given the ONLY time they put Ditto available by the daycare was the Generation they'd introduced breeding (and wanted kids to make the "Ditto = breeding starters/gifts" connection) small wonder they put it on the doorstep of the place. Every other Gen, they either put it late game, post-game or flat-out didn't add it at all (need to beeline to the western province to nab one to breed a derp starter in SV, RS didn't add it, DP hid it till post-game and the PokéRadar. I ended up getting my Ditto in Platinum, it was still post-game but unlocked by RNG, rather than pissing around with that piece of shit). TRY and remember you're not the target demo and kids picking it up are starting from zip.

Eh, clearly Pokemon is trying to appeal more to girls and broaden their audience. More feminine starters, Liko as the main protagonist of the anime now, etc.
I don't mind feminine starters, as long as not all of them in one generation fit the billet. Diversity in that regard is nice.
Meowscarada is great. Primarina is great. Delphox is kinda meh.
Cinderace, Inteleon, and Quaquaval all blur that line a bit. The former two look androgynous, the latter just a fag.
Just reset for a girl and you're set.
