>>55581239i don't really care about it much now that i'm not, like, a high school kid like i was when gen 6 was relevant, but at the time i was really upset about it cucking mons i liked out of ever getting real evos and forever tying hoenn's lore and pokémon to "the mystery of mega evolution". really hated how it was basically the only thing any of the characters in XY and ORAS would talk about, it was like playing an advertisement for something i didn't like. if they'd kept it as a main feature and continued to add more i probably would have totally dropped the series.
i still don't like the way the stories revolve around battle gimmicks now, although gen 9
and kinda gen 7 did a pretty good job of making it compelling, so i'm hopeful legends ZA will redeem megas with a healthy dose of good writing. that's probably all i need to sway my opinion really, i'm already a lot less hard on them than i used to be.
