I remember people debating whether or not Shining just referred to that run of cards. It was also a talking point when they officially said it. That being said, this was 15 years ago and all my evidence is anecdotal. Maybe this talk was just in my circles and I'm just forgetting about the internet as a whole.
Either way I'll accept this as OP's autism peaking through because no one would think Shiny is still just a fan term in 2024
>>55588575I looked it up and the first mention of "Shiny" Pokémon in the games was in a Pokémon Platinum event 2 years before Gen 5 came out. Not in Gen 5 like I thought, but also not in Gen 3 if you want to be a sperg about it.
