Greninja was alright in gen 6-7 VGC and I don’t know if Cinderace was used much during gen 8 VGC. Both got banned to Ubers in their debut generations. I’ve heard most theorize that protean/libero got changed because of terastalization, so they might change it back in later games when they inevitably axe tera.
