>>55597910I always felt that GF, when designing a Pokémon, they go "alright, two can be weird, but one MUST be an animal", so when they design a new gimmick mon, the MAN gimmick HINDERS the MONSTER Pokémon.
Either go full monster, or just make it humanoid. Fuck, I feel that's the reason why starters started to become "weak" in design during Gen 5 (I would add 4, but most are just filler mons to other Pokémon in an attempt to balance the powercreep).
I feel that, if you want to fix some starters, it would be like this:
>SamurottMaybe give him longer legs, and make it semi bipedal (stands up, but lunging forward). Maybe add a chest plate for extra protection
>PrimarinaGive HIM a more masculine look. And call it Primarine, so we can bank on non binary shit. Seriously, I get is supposed to be a mermaid/merman, but is too feminine. Too much to be an androginous male.
>SkeledirgeAs Samurott, make it bipedal, so he looks like those cartoony big chested Soprano singers from the Looney Toons. The bird can stay, be on the nose, on it's head, or just it's shoulder.
>QuaquavalFix the hips. Make it more humanoid so it makes more sense, and maybe add a different walk cycle between male and female. Looks too gay. I get is based on that human-bird chinese legend, but it didn't translated well to the game.
Or, if you want a wild card, make it a road runner.
