I'm still shocked how bad all the battle themes in base S/V are except the 4 prominence wild themes, Arven, the Paldea Elite Four and the AI Professors. The gym theme is especially insulting, completely missed the decent elements of the SwSh one and doubled down on the shitty parts that don't even make sense out of context.
It really took until the DLC for shit to git gud, the only stinkers being Carmine and Keiran's themes, and the quality of Ogerpon's theme and Pecharunt's remix of the Loyal Three theme is nowhere near as good an apology as to charge 50% > for it.
I also forgot how good the Johto battle is, even the 8bit one, given how antiquated I feel the Kanto ones are.
