Let's say I am a dev working at Game Freak. I've been tasked to create an open-world travel system. My role is to code it, and I'm allowed to communicate with the animation team, and I have free reign. Our task is to get this up and running within 6 months.
The Pitch: I'm going to make it fun to travel freely, but I'm not going to force it. Pokemon are rideable if big enough, with varying speed and limitations, but there's teleportation points to allow for quicktravel. But just in case someone doesn't want to have to adjust their team for this, there's a bike, and your backpack can deploy a glider.
Not everyone is going to like this idea but at least it's a goddamn idea.
