It's not a full containment board for Pokemon obviously, but as the years have passed, /vp/ has gained an additional purpose of being a containment board for the special brands of faggotry that Pokemon as a franchise attracts.
For every facet of Pokemon, there's some schizo clinging to it like a leech, a leech that won't let go no matter how many ways you try to remove it.
Without /vp/, those schizos would be FAR more frequent on other boards, meaning their bullshit would cause 4chan's already-shit quality nosedive even deeper.
