The Gen 4 remakes tried to integrate them a little but felt a bit lacklustre to me, just "Hey, remember them Eeveelution trainers from that one city? Well now they'll dance and unlock a lgendary for you! How nice, right?"
Every other generation had the box legendary integrated into them in some way, and whilst I think Gen 9 is a bit much just handing it to you right at the start I appreciate the idea to it in trying to make them significant to you as a player
