Nah, LV in doubles makes Hyper Voice a better Surf that doesn't hit allies + can activate Throat Spray. What does Long Reach accomplish that isn't situational?

There's literally nothing about Long Reach that is related to Tough Claws other than affecting Physical moves.
Furthermore Water Bubble is an exclusive ability to two early game bug Mon, it's not going to have a wide distribution, nor is putting it on fucking Araquanid going to somehow break the game.
Abilities aren't the joke, your inability to show any semblance of rationality is.
Just make the thread about what it's actually about, you being jilted over Decidueye's HA.

Most Physical attacks don't even make contact anyways, and Decidueye is a mixed attacker. Long Reach is useless, especially since there are items that do what it does but better (Punching Glove, Protective Pads)

Decidueye is thoroughly a bad Pokemon

I think you're mistaking it for muddy water. I believe ever since gen 4-5? (don't remember off the top of my head) it hit allies too. Only in gen 3 it only hit foes.

And people give Meganium unrelenting shit for having a wasted hidden ability with Leaf Guard. News flash, but Sceptile and Decidueye are no better in that regard as as Unburden is a waste considering Sceptile's 120 Speed and Long Reach is a waste since Decidueye is primarily used as a special attacker IIRC.

Don't give me any of the "Meganium sucks" lip to try and shut down this argument either because this is a prime example of unpopular Pokemon being berated for their problems while popular Pokemon that have their fair share of problems rarely have their issues brought up. If you're going to berate Meganium for having an ability that does nothing for it, then Sceptile and Decidueye shouldn't get a free pass just because they're "cool" because they're guilty of the same shit as Meganium, yet it's Meganium that constantly gets shitted on.

Starters aren't made to be good in competitive. Incineroar and Rillaboom being broken was a complete accident. The Kanto starters got some broken megas and/or gmax forms but they don't see nearly as much usage without those gimmicks nowadays.

Long Reach simply makes contact moves not make contact. What's the correlation here?

Retard. Sceptile isn't exceptional but unburden is a perfectly fine ability for it. It got to the mid tiers with flying gem acrobatics as a option in Gen 5. Overgrow was still more common but unburden had its place until mega sceptile was released. Even now with all the powercreep terrain seed and unburden is one of the better ways to run sceptile in the lower tiers. I even tried unburden+weakness policy+dynamax in the swshit vgc era just for kicks and it did ok. Almost anything is viable with the dynamax weakness policy bullshit though. I haven't paid attention to meganium competitively lately. What does it do? Set up screens? Subseed stall? Unless it got significant movepool buffs I doubt it can do much. Sceptile is shit but it has a lot of options thanks to its movepool and abilities that make it unique, while Meganium doesn't have much to differentiate itself from other shit bulky grass types.

Mega Charizard Y was amazing but without a Mega the Kanto starters high usage was reliant on the broken dot that came with their gmax moves. Regular Venusaur is only good when sun is good, so usually only in restricted formats where Groudon is allowed (and unfortunately Koraidon is looking pretty mid and outclassed by Groudon in the few restricted tournaments going around with the regulation G hype). Solar Power Charizard is a victim of powercreep and has become a ChiYu at home. Johto starters lol. Swampert needs it's mega to be viable, similar to Venusaur it's only good when rain teams are good (again this is usually only when Kyogre is unleashed). Blaziken was sometimes paired with a Defiant mon like Bisharp, to scare away intimidate, and even outclassed it's mega. Unfortunately can no longer compete even with much stronger Defiant mons like Annihilape, Ogerpon, and Kingambit here. Maybe someone will make Competitive Empoleon work someday but as of now Sinnoh is shit. Contrary Serperior is a failed gimmick and Unova starters don't see any usage now. Kalos starters are all bad. Incineroar is broken and Primarina is actually kinda decent, but unfortunately she is kind of a more offensive Tapu Fini at home. Rillaboom is broken, Cinderace saw some usage with it's powerful Gmax move but without it has fallen off a cliff. Hisuian starters are all bad. Meowscarada and Skeldirge were both actually pretty decent in the early days but became unable to compete against the massive usage of ChienPao, ChiYu, and Flutter Mane.
