Blitzle is just ponyta but electric and leavanny/scolipede are the counterparts to butterfree/beedrill. Chandelure is the only truly unique one there.

There are multiple ghost lines in gen 5 and only 1 in gen 1. Only in gen 1 and 5 is the early route bug type split into two separate lines where one is just a normal bug and the other is poisonous. And I dont see you claiming that watchog isn't just gen 5 raticate because a groundhog and a rat are different animals, so yes, blitzle is just gen 5 ponyta.

Well I'm not disagreeing that a lot of Unovan mons are clearly paralleling kanto mons, but I think most are distinct enough imo. I went with Gengar because it's a 3-stage, Unova also has more dragons than Kanto too thankfully.
