It's not even fucking nostalgia at this point keeping it relevant, but the sheer ungodly amount of shilling it receives

Yet this explains why gen 1 keeps staying relevant, it's not fuelled on nostalgia like people think. but quite literally them continuously bringing it back
like jfc it almost had more megas than gen 3, which had an entire game remake that gen with megas in mind.

Besides anytime mario isn't the "playable" character of the game they DO change the name of the game so it's isn't named mario.

That stopped being the case when most of Gen 5 was reimaginings of previous mons that most people didn't like. It stopped when a bunch of Kanto mons got mega evos in Kalos, depending on if you played at launch, you got a Hoenn and Kanto starter to use instead of your Kalos starter. It stopped in Gen 7 where it introduced regionals.

It's almost as if gen 1 are the "core" Pokemon that everyone recognizes, which is why they get used more often than other Pokemon. Especially for gimmicks like regional forms that only make sense if you're familiar with the original Pokemon. (you wouldn't believe how many people thought Galarian Yamask was a new Pokemon)

This, literally every brand or franchise showcases their most recognizable parts the most. Even among other RPG mascots. The slime is always given the spotlight in DQ for instance. Pokemon definitely doesn't forget any of their creatures existence considering that this franchise is autistic enough to group every creature by a specific number.

It’s the opposite of how they treat Johto. Because Game Freak either didn’t know or didn’t care about Johto to let it stand on its own, it’s forever stuck being known as Kanto’s Backyard that’s why Johto barely got so relatively little despite being the second oldest region. An even most of the little Johto got was extremely recently.
There’s a reason why Game Frwak never made another “sequel” region

Kids like plenty of new mons.
I work with kids on daily basis, and you can easily spot kids who are into Pokemon that actually have tastes besides MUH PIKAHU
From newest gen most favs I noticed are:
Raidons, Dondozo, Tinkaton line, Paldean Wooper line, Nacli line and All starters are actually liked this time.

The truth is, adding 100+ new mons to each game indefinitely was a mistake. It’s like the One Piece “1000 chapters!” dilemma. A lot of people will just never give a shit.

Not everything new will be a hit, or what, do you think things like Bruxish were designed with anyone expecting it to become a shillmon? But the things that do end up hits should be taken up to the hall of fame and get preferential treatment and started getting pushed as much as the other things that got particular popular in their heyday.
Instead what we get is that when something becomes a mega hit, like Greninja, they then do their utmost to put it down because it dared to threaten the popularity of Charizardino and Kanto's hegemony.
I didn't even particularly like the frog myself, I actually hate "acemons" but even I understand the appeal, but even I feel that the treatment the frog got ever since that one league was plain mean spirited. Someone doesn't get shat on so much despite all logic saying they should be getting nothing but preferential treatment and shilling unless someone's feathers were ruffled.
